Robocoast Consortium

Robocoast’s core competencies are in robotics, cyber security, data analytics, artificial intelligence and IoT. Our goal is to promote the introduction and research of these technologies in companies in particular, and thereby enhance the digitalisation of the region’s strong export industry. We share information about our stakeholder events and also organize the events ourselves. See upcoming events here.

Robocoast has the Digital Innovation HUB (DIH) status granted by the European Commission.

As a core competence center of Robocoast, Vaasa University of Applied Sciences is focusing on R&D entities and testbeds of Technobotnia: IT laboratories, Electrical laboratories and Mechanical laboratories. As a part of Robocoast EDIH Novia’s focus areas are in applied intelligent systems (artifical intelligence, machine learning, IoT, data management and analytics) as well as robotics and additive manufacturing within education and research laboratory Techobothnia.

Åbo Akademi University

As a core competence center of the Robocoast EDIH Åbo Akademi University is focusing especially in R&D services within: Evalution and exploitantion of factory internal data (IoT, Edge-computing)  and sensor technologies (machine vision, LIDAR, car radars, UWB, etc.), Design and deployment of AI based factory automation systems, Mission-critical software and Smart Shipping.

University of Turku

As a core competence center of the Robocoast DIH, UTU as a multidiscipline university, performs research serving the R&D activities especially in: digitalization of manufacturing processes and quality assurance, machine learning, algorithms and computational intelligence, autonomous and intelligent systems, cybersecurity, mixed reality, interaction design, natural language technology, software engineering, industrialization of 3D printing and additive manufacturing, battery materials and technologies, environmentally friendly technologies, and business models.

As a CC of the Robocoast EDIH UC Kokkola’s focus areas are: Wireless Sensor Networks & IoT, Smart Environment (smart & sustainable manufacturing, monitoring of industrial processes etc), industrial sector includes Chemical & Metal Industry, Mining etc, Role individually in wide scopes of projects and as a partner projects related especially to different technologies serving the industries and SMEs in digital transformation

Alliance of Baltic Sea Region EDIHs for Manufacturing SME Support

The European Union Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) is Macro-regional Strategy that aims to strengthen cooperation between the countries bordering the Baltic Sea to meet the common challenges and to benefit from common opportunities facing the region. Boosting digital innovation and transformation, as well as facilitating macroregional challenge-driven innovation policies and actions are among the priority actions in the EUSBSR Action plan. In line with these macroregional priorities, the project will implement its activities in an integrated approach by setting up partnerships with EDIHs across the Baltic Sea Region to maximize its impact regionally and spillover at the European level.

In the context of the upcoming EDIH program and responding to the needs for collaboration among EDIHs, we are a regional strategic alliance to build closer links, develop trust, share expertise and resources, and join in common digital transformation initiatives for the common goal – facilitate the digital transformation of manufacturing SMEs in Baltic Sea Region.

The Hungarian Artificial Intelligence (AI) Coalition was founded upon the initiative of the Ministry of Innovation and technology under the Digital Success Program as an expert and consultation forum for the local AI ecosystem. The Hungarian Artificial Intelligence platforms connect stakeholders in business, research, academia, and government in the field of artificial intelligence to prepare the Hungarian economy and society for the AI revolution. C-Hub: Cybersecurity DIH, Portugal

The C-Hub: Cybersecurity DIH – Cybersecurity Digital Innovation Hub (C-HUB) was recognized by the Portuguese Office of the Minister of State, Economy, and Digital Transition as a DIH in June 2021.The C-Hub, aims to support the process of digital transformation, raise awareness, develop innovative processes, technology and knowledge transfer, of SMEs and public administration by providing services, experimental laboratories and technical expertise focused on cybersecurity to foster the use of technologies and enhance cyber resilience and maturity. Given the focus of the C-HUB and the characteristics of its members, the C-HUB has a national and European scope. The multidisciplinary of its members and network, allows it to seek answers to local, regional, national, and European needs, crossing the various activity sectors of the economy and society. Defence4Tech, Portugal

Defence4Tech Hub is the first Digital Innovation Hub fully dedicated to the European Defence Economy. Defence4Tech Hub, led by idD Portugal Defence, is the product from a consortium with AED Cluster Portugal, UNINOVA, the Research and Development centres from the three branches of the Armed Forces and from the Portuguese Military University Institute (CINAMIL, CIAFA, CINAV and CIDIUM), University of Beira Interior, Nova School of Science and Technology, ISQ, CEiiA and DTx CoLAB. Digital Innovation Hubs are a part of Digital Europe Programme and their objective is to accelerate the dissemination and adoption of digital technologies by companies and the Public Administration, contributing to the increase in the competitiveness of their processes, products and services. DIH 4 Global Automotive coordinated by MOBINOV Automotive Cluster Association, Portugal

DIH 4 Global Automotive coordinated by MOBINOV Automotive Cluster Association was founded in 2016, to promote the convergence of various players in the national automotive industry, including global manufacturers suppliers, associations and knowledge centers and universities, in order to transform Portugal in a competitive and recognized Automotive Industry in terms of the development of technological solutions and the industrialization of components, modules, systems and vehicles. Mobinov’s mission is to promote a sustainable growth and competitiveness of the national automotive industry through greater cooperation and coordination between companies, associations, public administration bodies and SCTN entities. Mobinov’s mail goals are: reinforce the competitiveness of the automotive sector; promoting the increase of exports and its internationalization and prepare a new cycle of the automotive industry on a trajectory for the “car as a service”, and other automotive global trends. www.mobinov.pt

DIVA, Digital Innovation Value Accelerator, France

The DIVA (Digital Innovation Value Accelerator) is to be the European Digital Innovation Hub
for the Pays de la Loire region, which has just been chosen by the French State to respond to the
European Commission’s call for EDIH (European Digital Innovation Hub) proposal. DIVA thus
become a one-stop-shop, covering the entire Pays de la Loire region, for stimulating and helping
regional companies become more competitive in designing and developing their products and
services, as well as their business and production (manufacturing) processes, by using
Artificial Intelligence including robotics.

DIVA consists of organizing a “tailor-made” support pathway, from raising awareness of AI to the
commercial deployment of solutions using AI technologies and services. lt addresses also the
following technologies: AR, VR, industrial robotics, IoT, Additive Manufacturing, advanced
materials. “Traditiona!” SMEs and mid-caps are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of
data, but there are still a number of obstacles to using AI technologies and services: the lack of data
for testing, difficulties in assessing the contribution of AI, a shortage of skills, the lack of a clear
view of maintenance and upgrade costs. To respond to these challenges, the range of services
developed by DIV A will be aimed at companies of all sizes and all levels of maturity (microbusinesses,
SMEs, mid-caps and start-ups). Assessments of the digital maturity and use of AI within

EDIH Odense: Collaborative Robots in Manufacturing Logistics coordinated by Erhvervshus Fyn, Denmark

The objectives of the EDIH Odense is to significantly increase the uptake of collaborative robots in the Danish manufacturing industry by supporting and assisting SMEs in deciding how to incorporate collaborative robots in their production and by enabling the investment. The EDIH Odense brings together a well suited, strong consortium of 4 local partners each with a proven track record of excellent competencies, which will be dedicated to the EDIH: Business Hub Fyn: One of six regional business hubs in Denmark offering specialized advice on business opportunities and equity-free funding for Danish companies with the aim of growing and scaling their business. Danish Technological Institute: DTI is a leading research and technology institute offering specialist knowledge and test services to companies. DTI in Odense has2800m2 of robot halls where they exhibit, experiment, test, and investigate new technologies from technology providers and robot developers, and house start-up companies. Odense Robotics: Denmark’s national robot and drone cluster. Brings together the entire ecosystem to drive innovation and growth in the industry nationwide. EEN partner South Denmark European Office (SDEO): Connects southern Danishbusinesses, public and private actors to the European Union, its funding programs, and international networks and partnerships. Besides the key partners, the hub includes several associated partners including leading universities, clusters, and industry associations who will support the activities of the HUBwithin their specialization areas. European Digital Innovation Hub Zagore coordinated by Telelink Business services, Bulgaria

Under the umbrella of Digital Innovation Hub ZAGORE, led by the Regional Economic Development Agency – Stara Zagora, more than 25 association members and non-political foundation partners work together transversally to achieve this goal.

Digital Innovation Hub ZAGORE is part of the network of the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) which will function as one-stop shops that help companies dynamically respond to the digital challenges and become more competitive. By providing access to technical expertise and experimentation as well as the possibility to “test before invest”, EDIHs help companies improve business/production processes, products, or services using digital technologies. Green eDIH

Green Digital Innovation HUB (Gren eDIH), is a virtual superstructure model as a “Digital Innovation Center” administered by Green Technology CLUSTER (GTC), with the given role of Green eDIH Governor (Administrator/Orchestrator), having Green Technology Association (GTA) as legal Management Entity, based in Bucharest, Romania.

Green Digital Innovation HUB members and partners include entities from all areas of coverage. The Health Hub is a candidate European Digital Innovation Hub in Thessaly, lying in the center of Greece, acting as a reference point of Digital Health at regional, national and European level. PICS2 Puglia Innovation Center for Safety and Security coordinated by LUM University, Italy

The P/CS2hub consists of6 research bodies, 26 partners including SMEs and big companies, public bodies, and infrastructures operators. Moreover, 5 strategic partners (regulating bodies and companies operating in the public sector) are joining the consortium for the European restricted call and more partners may join the consortium before the submission of the proposal. LUM University is the Coordinating Partner.

The proposal obtained the expression of interest from the Department of Economic Development, Innovation, Education, Training, and Labour of the Regional Government of Apulia. The competence center intends to guide companies and public bodies that operate and interact with each other in the Special Economic Zones ecosystem, towards digital transformation, with a specific focus on the issues of safety (health and well-being of economic operators) and security (protection of factories, logistic infrastructures, interchange systems (e.g. customs), energy infrastructure) both from a physical and digital point of view.

The technological focus of the hub is represented by Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence and other enabling technologies such as the Internet of Things, Robotics, Big Data, Data Analytics, Building Information Modelling (BIM), Geographic Information systems (GJS), Energy technologies. Among the sectors that would benefit from the services provided by P/CS 2 there are ICT, Health and Wellbeing, Industry 4.0, Transport and Logistics, Public Administrations, and Regulating Bodies. • industrial enterprises operating within the Apulian Industrial Development Areas and Special Economic Zones and enterprises offering support services;
• public and private organizations managing industrial areas, infrastructures for the transport of people and goods, companies operating in the field of telecommunication infrastructures and their supply chain;

PDIH – Pomeranian Digital Innovation Hub coordinated Pomeranian Special Economic Zone Ltd., Poland

Pomeranian Digital Innovation Hub (PDIH), functioning on the basis of a one-stop-shop model located in the Gdansk Science and Technology Park, will operate in the region of Pomeranian, Kujavian-Pomeranian, and Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and will offer entrepreneurs comprehensive access to specialized services based on the latest knowledge, experience, and technology. PDIH will enable testing and implementing digital innovations suitable for companies’ current products and processes and will encourage new solutions. Based on the experience of partners and modern technological infrastructure (demonstrators) services will be provided covering all stages of digital transformation, from analysis and audit of the company’s structure, its business processes, to designing changes, their demonstration, and testing solutions using the latest technologies. The market sectors covered by DIH in Ventspils today include high-tech and mid-tech manufacturing industries (e.g., ICT, machinery and equipment, electrical and optical equipment). KTH DIH

This is the KTH Innovation Hub on Industrial Digitalization. We belong to the ITM School and are hosted by the Mechatronics and Embedded Control Systems Division. We are also closely associated with the Industry network ICES. The Stockholm based Innovation Hub is aiming to become an active core of the Nordic and European ecosystem related to Industrial Digitalization. We are located in the intersection industry, scaleups and education, as well as a multitude of innovation actors. As part of KTH, we also have a large international network to leverage.

Our role is to:

  • Connect stakeholders and stimulate networking within the CPS innovation eco-system including between SME’s, Large corporations, Innovation supporting agencies, Funding bodies, CPS networks, as well as CPS experts and related students in academia and at research institutes,
  • Provide access to competence and resources in both CPS technology and business in terms of CPS experts, related KTH centers and labs (research and infrastructure), and innovation agencies. This includes providing updated insights on research developments and trends,
  • Provide access to capital through connections to various funding opportunities from funding agencies, venture cap and other organizations, including innovation hub support of experiments and pilots (innovation experiments)
  • Provide and stimulate development of continued education

These roles complement those of other actors in the innovation ecosystem, in particular by being anchored at a Technical university. Lithuanian robotics DIH (LTroboticsDIH)

Lithuanian Robotics Association (LRA) is a coordinator of Lithuanian robotics DIH (LTroboticsDIH) and is non-profit organization which has the status of association. LRA seeks to become a “one-stop shop” for everything related to robotics in Lithuania and currently quickly builds up ecosystem around major robotic solution providers and competence centres.

Lithuanian robotics DIH helps robotic business in Lithuania to enter transnational value chains and to find new export markets. DIH helps manufacture industry to better understand their needs and to find the right solution providers for their problems. DIH also helps competence centres and robotic solution providers to enter into cooperative research agreements and also consults how to lower the risk of investments by aligning them with Governmental support. LRA as coordinator of DIH helps Government, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Science and education to address national policy challenges related to digitalization of the industry and changing roles of the future workforce.

The AI Health Corridor is a network shaped by candidate European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) in the fields of health, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity. RobotUnion

RobotUnion is an ecosystem that encompasses SMEs and startups together with corporates, researchers, acceleration programmes and investors. The aim is “to create the best conditions for long-term business success for all involved”, as per the DIH definition by the European Commission.
