Enmac Ltd won the Robocoast coal wagon cleaning -challenge competition
Robocoast Digital Innovation Hub (DIH) organized a challenge competeition for SME’s early 2020. The goal was to find an innovative solution to clean a coal wagon of reminants of, some times frozen, coal.
This was not an easy challenge. The cleaning need to be carried away quickly and for up to 300 wagons per day. There is not an off-the-shelf solution available. But now the situation will change. Thanks to Robocoast challenge competition, a coal transit operator at Tahkoluoto harbor at Port of Pori, Adolf Lahti Ltd, found a business partner to create the innovative cleaning system. “We are in the happy position to have Robocoast DIH at our service” commends Chief operating officer Sami Veneranta from Adolf Lahti Ltd.
Enmac Ltd, the winner of the challenge competition, is an innovative expert company specialising in mechanical-engineering services, equipment deliveries and project management. They follow regularly Robocoast Challenge -competitions. “The challenges have been suitable to our expertise” explains Director of sales, Sampo Siuko. “We’ve been able to find good solutions to the challenges. We have also gained new customers by attending to the challenge competitions, so I belive that there has been a concrete benefit of the challenge competitions for different parties.”
As a result, the two companies have made a preliminary study agreement. “We give our thanks to Robocoast for organizing the competition, ja working as a Hub matching the one needing a solution and the one offering a solution.” he explains.
The challenge competition has been organised as part of the “Robocoast R&D Center – Robotics Living Lab for companies” project funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Regional Council of Satakunta.
